OUR HISTORY
Cantare Chorale was formed in 1992 by Bill Pearson and Dave Smythe to bring quality choral music
to the citizens of El Dorado County. Talented singers who had previously performed with groups in
Sacramento wanted a venue closer to home where they could develop and share their talents.
Dedicated leaders have volunteered many hours to make this possible and to expand Cantare's
reach to surrounding communities. The organization has grown into a viable California non-profit
501(c) (3) corporation with excellent leadership by an exceptionally gifted and musically educated
artistic director and equally gifted and qualified piano accompanist. Individual members volunteer
their specific talents and leadership to this thriving organization. Cantare is a mixed SATB chorale of
25-30 members who love to sing all styles and genres of music. Their concerts include classics,
madrigals, folk, popular, jazz, seasonal, modern arrangements, both accompanied and a cappella,
and incorporate educational components to inform, engage, and educate their audience. The group
is committed to further expansion and growth and provides an excellent learning opportunity for the
development of musical excellence
